Air Turbine Spindles® Make Speeders Obsolete?
Why are Air Turbine Spindles® different?

These are not mechanical speeders or electric units with brushes. Air Turbine Tools® are direct drive governor controlled high speed and high torque units. Mill 600" / 2000mm per minute with a super finish.

The patented governor control means Air Turbine Spindles® keep their high speed under load for continuous faster cutting action with no gears, vanes, or brushes to burn up. Lower vibration results in greater accuracy and reliability.

Speeds of 25,000 - 90,000RPM are available with power ratings up to 1.4HP. Ideal for use with small end mills. Air Turbine Spindles® are oil free and with integrated toolholders, accurate at 0.0002" TIR (0.0005mm).

No stop block is needed because the only moving part is the endmill.

Why are Air Turbine Spindles® more reliable and cost cutting?

The only moving parts are grease packed ceramic bearings resulting in low heat and greater reliability. Fewer moving parts means less vibration and fewer repairs. Patented Air Turbine Spindles® design delivers constant high speed cutting action to accelerate your production rates. The constant high speed prolongs your cutting tool life by making coatings more effective. Double ceramic bearings are standard in the larger 650 units, which can work 24/7 without overheating.

What do I need to operate Air Turbine Spindles®?

Dry, Clean, oil-free 90PSI / 6.2 Bar airflow unrestricted by small hoses and couplings is required. A 3 micron filter extractor and hose are included in the carrying case with your spindle. The CFM/LS flow rates for your spindle are stated in this catalog and must not be restricted by couplings less than 1/4" / 6mm internal diameter. The most powerful 650 units require hoses and couplings with a minimum internal diameter of 3/8" / 7mm.

How do I mount my spindle in a toolchanger?

Air Turbine Spindles® Automatic Toolchanger option (TMA) (patent pending), loads into a mounting block screwed into your VMC or CNC machine.

TMA Mounting block compatible with Haas, Fada, Mazak, Hurcol and other CNC manufacturers are available. Integrated CAT40, CAT50, BT30, BT40, HSK-A63, SK-40 (DIN 69871) are available.

Straight shank (JS) units feature selectable twin airfeeds: NPT side feed or rear through shank feed (patent pending) in one unit. The straight shank JS units combine with a short ER32 Collet chuck range giving you unlimited options. Specifiy 3/4" or 20mm shank when ordering JS units.
